  1. Looks great! I’m planning to try starting these on a cold grate so they get some smoke before they get to the higher temp. Can you share details of the kettle adapter mod shown in the second picture? I’ve searched the Thermoworks site for something tailored for the Weber kettle and this is the only thing I’ve found.

    1. Haha! I always knew the day would come that I’d have to explain that. We used a step drill bit to punch a hole in the side of the kettle, then put a piece of double-male threaded pipe through with a screw ring inside annd one outside to tighten it in place. Then we screwed an angled pipe (double-female) on to the other end. We used a mounting kit that screwed into the angled pipe. It DOES void your Kettle’s warranty, but you DO get temperature control out of it!
