      Short answer: Yes, a ThermoPop can measure ambient temperatures. However, as it is designed to be a penetration probe, it will not read nearly as quickly as an air probe will. Be sure never to leave it in a smoker or an oven, as the heat can melt/ruin the housing.

  1. My thermapop was put bank in oven and melted (still intake) pulled that out along with metal casing. Is food safe

    1. If your ThermoPop melted all ovdr your food, I would not eat it. The ThermoPop is not meant to be a leave-in probe thermometer.
