(Continued from Part 1)
Having satisfied your curiosity about the NSF, you allow yourself to actually open the packaging and you find…
- a Splash-Proof, Super-Fast® Thermapen® (of course) but also…
- a fold-out technical manual (a good one-sheet encapsulation of some of the key functions described in the “Using Your Thermapen” booklet)
- and a “Certificate of Calibration” with a “Statement of Conformity” on the back
Taking last things first, lets take a look at that Certificate of Calibration (with the Thermapen’s permission, of course).
Far more than a photocopied insert, this is a legal document showing that your very own Thermapen is in compliance with key industrial regulations and that its performance meets certain key standards for high performance. This document is unique to your Thermapen and contains some very specific information. Here’s a dissection of some of its key parts…
What it means is that your Thermapen was tested and calibrated in a UKAS-accredited laboratory which, by enforcement of treaty, means that its accuracy is compliant with the standards of the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology. The equipment used to verify the accuracy of your Thermapen was a high precision RTD probe and reference thermometer in two controlled liquid baths stable to ±0.01°C.
On the back, you will find the “Statement of Conformity” with further details about the standards used to evaluate the performance of your Thermapen before it ever reached your doorstep…
You’ll note both the signature of the manufacturer’s Quality Control Manager and our own Vice President, Tom Fisher. Which brings us to the Thermapen itself…
…your special one-of-a-kind Thermapen: made in England, tested, calibrated, tested again, documented, verified, supported, bundled and delivered to you in its very own Thermapen package.
